Needle and flaky, the spruce produces medium-sized needle leaves and a large, gathering black. Dark green with bluish needles, it looks very similar to white spruce, but offers a more mature appearance with a much larger trunk and larger leaves. While these trees maintain a youthful image throughout the year, they tend to grow more slowly.
